Best cooking tip
Work on your fundamentals (making a white sauce, searing, etc...) If you can make a great plain risotto, you can use that basic recipe to create dozens of different variations.

Worst cooking disaster
The first meal I made for my then-soon-to-be-husband. I was so nervous, I undercooked the pasta and turned my decadent chocolate almond cake into a brick. I think I've made up for it though!
